NTR RANGE GROWS TO INCLUDE TWO SPACE-EFFICIENT 6.5-INCH DRIVERS
17/01/2008

Celestion, a leader in loudspeaker design for more than 80 years, now offer two space-efficient 6.5-inch drivers optimized for mid-range and bass applications, as part of the highly successful NTR range.

NTR06-170B is a 150Wrms (AES) mid range unit offers 95.5dB sensitivity – impressive for a driver of this size – and is well suited to line array or 3-way cabinet applications. With a frequency response of 150Hz to 7kHz, the speaker exhibits an exceptionally smooth response curve thanks to its shaped cone and M-roll surround. This enables a smooth transition to the system’s HF driver even with a simple, low-order crossover.

The NTR06-1705D is a 175Wrms (AES) long throw, woofer/mid-bass unit which is ideal for use in compact two way applications, such as satellite systems deployed in small to medium size venues. With greater bass response, this driver has a frequency response from 70Hz to around 5kHz, and is ideal for use alongside a Celestion CDX range compression driver.

Additionally, the NTR06-1705D features a longer voice coil and rubber, half-roll surround, to facilitate greater cone excursion. Meanwhile, a copper sleeved pole reduces inductive rise for improved high frequency performance.

Both drivers have been designed with intelligent heat management in chassis and magnet assembly, to reduce thermal compression and so minimizing distortion. They also feature a compact chassis design, for space efficient mounting.

NTR is a range of high-end cast-aluminium chassis neodymium magnet drivers for professional sound reinforcement applications. With 6.5”, 8”, 10” and 12” models currently available (and growing to incorporate 15” and 18” models during 2008), these loudspeakers make extensive use of Celestion’s advanced FEA (finite Element Analysis) modelling techniques to achieve a number of performance advantages. Benefits include greater application-specific control delivering more low frequency output, reduced distortion and increased longevity.
