Celestion, a world-leader in transducer technology and raw frame drivers, announces the introduction of HDX drivers: three brand new additions to the FTR family of professional audio loudspeakers.
HDX speakers have been developed as a natural extension to the highly successful cast aluminium chassis, ferrite magnet FTR series or professional audio loudspeakers and are well-suited to subwoofer applications.
They incorporate many key FTR engineering features including a high temperature voice coil, with chassis and magnet assembly optimised for heat management. These innovations are focused on extending low frequency response, increasing Xmax and reducing distortion for each HDX model.
Double suspension and “multi-roll” surround provide exceptional linearity at extremes of excursion.
HDX speakers are weight optimised, for example, the 18” driver is (9.8kg/21.6lb) - very low weight for this product class.
Available as three different chassis diameters 12”, 15” and 18”, HDX speakers incorporate a 4” high temperature voice coil for optimised heat dissipation, and a 3.1 kg/110 oz magnet.
Thanks to significant and sustained investment in research and development, Celestion will be launching new products throughout this year. Winter NAMM 2007 sees the first phase of this initiative with no fewer than 24 new products being introduced, including HDX.
